Women’s basketball debuts at No. 6 in D3hoops.com preseason poll
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson College women's basketball team is ranked No. 6 in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top-25 poll after amassing 420 points.
The Storm are coming off a perfect 12-0 campaign that ended with an 89-84 overtime victory over Coe in the American Rivers Conference Championship for the program's 13th conference title in school history. Simpson was one of four teams to end the 2020-21 season without a blemish.
Simpson is joined by two other A-R-C schools in the preseason poll. Wartburg tallied 315 points to rank No. 10 going into the season, while Loras is receiving votes outside the top-25.
Storm basketball fans won't have to wait long to see this year's squad in action at home as the team is scheduled to host Gustavus Adolphus for the 2021-22 season opener on Nov. 12. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
The D3hoops.com poll is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Points are awarded on a 25-24-23-22-etc. basis.
