Ordaz, Dickson, and Nkomezi named to A-R-C All-Conference team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Three members of the Simpson men's soccer team were recognized by the American Rivers Conference on the All-Conference Team on Thursday, including Ronaldo Ordaz, Mitchell Dickson, and Espoire Nkomezi.

Ordaz was named to the All-American Rivers Conference First Team, while both Dickson and Nkomezi were selected as honorable mentions.

For Ordaz, the award marks the third straight season of being recognized, and for Nkomezi, his second straight season of being an honorable mention selection. Dickson was honored for the first time in his career.

The three helped guide the Storm to another postseason appearance, earning the five-seed in the A-R-C Tournament, where Simpson fell in the opening round to three-seed Nebraska Wesleyan 1-0. Overall, Simpson went 8-9-2 with a 4-3-1 record in conference action, marking the 10th straight season of finishing .500 or better in conference play.

Simpson posted a 5-3-1 record at home during the campaign, including conference wins over Buena Vista, Loras, Dubuque, and Coe. The Storm scored an overwhelming majority of their goals at home, scoring 23 of their 29 season goals on their home pitch. Their season-best performance came as a 7-0 victory over Buena Vista on homecoming weekend, when seven different players scored a goal.

Ronaldo Ordaz, first team

  • A graduate forward from Marshalltown, Iowa
  • Earned his third straight first team all-conference honor
  • Ranked fourth in goals scored (9) in the A-R-C
  • Led the conference in shots (80) and shots per game (4.21)
  • His two game-winning goals tied for fifth in the conference
  • Finished fifth in the conference with 20 total points.
  • Scored two goals in the matches against Knox and #13 Wis.-Eau Claire

Mitchell Dickson, honorable mention

  • A junior forward from Stuart, Iowa
  • First All-American Rivers Conference honorable mention
  • Tied for fourth in the conference with six assists
  • His 14 points placed him tied for 10th in the conference
  • Named A-R-C Player of the Week once
  • Scored four goals on the year, second most on the team
  • Scored a goal in three straight matches against Knox, Carleton, and Grinnell
  • Marked a season-high five points against Buena Vista with one goal and three assists

Espoire Nkomezi, honorable mention

  • A senior defender from Johnston, Iowa
  • Second straight season of being named honorable mention all-conference
  • Played in all 19 matches for the Storm
  • Collected his lone assist in the Storm's comeback victory over Knox
  • Helped anchor the Storm's defense that resulted in four shutouts on the year
  • Managed 13 shots on the season
