Women's cross country set to begin 2025 campaign on Friday

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Experienced veterans and a talented incoming class headline the Simpson women's cross country team entering the 2025 campaign.

The Storm kickoff the season on Friday, Aug. 29 at the annual Bill Buxton Invitational in Indianola at Pickard Park. Simpson continues the year with trips to the Les Duke invitational and Dutch Open in September followed by the Dan Huston invitational and Bradley Pink Classic in October. The year concludes with the Storm in action at the A-R-C Championships on Nov. 1, and the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 15 in Waverly, Iowa.

Returning to lead the Storm are seniors Kate Huisinga and Elie Tuhn who placed third and fourth respectively on the team at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The two broke the 25-minute mark on the biggest stage and placed 97th and 106th overall. Juniors Jenna Gessert and Hannah McGraw, along with sophomore Chloe Wierson add to the depth of the returners.

2024 IN REVIEW

Two-time all-region selection Teghan Booth represented the Storm at the NCAA National Championships, where the senior placed 87th overall with a time of 22:16 minutes.
Booth paced the Storm in every race last season, including four top-five finishes and an individual title at the Bill Buxton Invitational to begin the year.
Taitlin Koch finished second on the team in three of the six meets for the Storm, capped off with a 24:20 showing at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Both Booth and Koch earned spots on the A-R-C All-Conference team after Booth posted a third place overall finish, the best since Catie Ellingson took second in 2010, and Koch took home 20th overall at the A-R-C Championships.
Kate Huisinga and Elie Tuhn both broke the 25-minute mark at the NCAA Midwest Regional and placed top-50 overall at the A-R-C Championships.
Nine members of the cross country team were selected to the A-R-C All-Academic team.
