Ellingson takes 3rd at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, MINN. - The women's cross country team took 9th of 14 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday morning, led by Catie Ellingson's third place performance in the first 6K race of the season.

Ellingson (Indianola, Iowa) continues her impressive career at the start of her senior campaign. She won the Central Invitational (5K) Sept. 4 and her time Saturday of 22:30 trailed only two runners from Minnesota-Duluth, a NCAA Division II school. She is proving to be one of the top Division III runners in the country.

Sophomore Jade Osborne (Goodyear, Ariz.) finished second for the Storm and 37th overall (24:27). Freshman Annie Hills (Swisher, Iowa) finished 67th overall (24:57), junior Erin Guzman (Traer, Iowa) finished 106th (25:44) and juniorCourtney Licht (Dallas Center, Iowa) completed the course in 26:13. Jayde Boyle (Holstein, Iowa), Molly Rhodes (Des Moines, Iowa) and Ashley Drogo(Red Oak, Iowa) rounded out the top eight finishers for the Storm.

The invitational featured schools from the Division II and Division III level. Minnesota-Duluth took first place with 27 team points. St. Olaf finished second (48), followed by Gustavus Adolphus (85), Winona State (153), Concordia-Moorhead (180), Carleton (200) and Central (231). Simpson's team score of 240 placed ahead of Minnesota State Moorhead (275), Macalester (326), St. Catherine (349), Wisconsin-Stout (360) and Augsburg (417).
