10 track and field and cross country athletes announced as Academic All-District selections

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Ten athletes from the Simpson College track and field and cross country programs were announced as Academic All-District honorees by the College Sports Communicators.

Five men and five women earned the distinction for the Storm. Max Cleveland, Clarke Latcham, Spencer Moon, James Murray, and Ean Warrick earned the award for the men. The women were represented by Audrey Arnold, Maddax DeVault, Maddie Hays, Aaliyah Johnson, and Lara Kallem.

To qualify, all nominees must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, be ranked Top 50 in their region in a single event, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Each athlete advances to the Academic All-America ballot, with the women's selections being announced on July 9 and the men on July 10.

Max Cleveland

  • Senior from Indianola, Iowa
  • Majors: Human Services, Psychology, Religion
  • Receiving second career Academic All-District honor
  • Took home Second Team All-American honors in the indoor 60 meter hurdles and the outdoor 110 meter hurdles

Clarke Latcham

  • Junior from Wellman, Iowa
  • Major: Chemistry
  • Earned second career Academic All-District award
  • Entered the top 10 in school history in the indoor pole vault and outdoor long jump

Spencer Moon

  • Senior from Lake City, Iowa
  • Majors: Business Analytics and Data
  • Selected to his third career Academic All-District Team
  • Outdoor 10,000 meters national champion
  • Earned four All-American honors on the year

James Murray

  • Senior from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
  • Major: Biochemistry
  • Taking home first career Academic All-District award
  • Earned all-conference honors in the distance medley relay

Ean Warrick

  • Senior from Ames, Iowa
  • Major: Computer Science
  • Earning his second career Academic All-District honor
  • Qualified to the NCAA Championships in cross country

Audrey Arnold

  • Senior from Glenwood, Iowa
  • Majors: Health and Exercise Science and Biology
  • Earned her second career Academic All-District honor
  • Ranks in the top 10 in school history in two individual events and two relay events

Maddax DeVault

  • Sophomore from Greenfield, Iowa
  • Major: Health and Exercise Science
  • Receiving her first Academic All-District honor
  • Ran the fifth-fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles in school history

Maddie Hays

  • Junior from Erie, Co.
  • Majors: Marketing Communications and Business Management
  • Collecting her second career Academic All-District honor
  • Earned Second Team All-American honors in the 400 meter hurdles

Aaliyah Johnson

  • Junior from Irving, Texas
  • Major: Biochemistry
  • Receiving her second Academic All-District award
  • Ranks in the top 10 in school history in the high jump and pentathlon

Lara Kallem

  • Senior from Dallas Center, Iowa
  • Major: Mathematics
  • Collected her second Academic All-District Award
  • Qualified to all three national meets and earned all-conference honors in the 10,000 meters
