Dean collects third CoSIDA Academic All-District honor

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- For the third time in his career, Simpson College men's soccer senior Ian Dean has earned College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District honors for his combined performance on the field and in the classroom.

Dean was named CoSIDA Academic All-District after the 2018 and 2020 seasons and elevated his status to the All-America Third Team last season. He will be placed on the Academic All-America ballot once again with first-, second- and third-team honorees slated to be announced in December.

A defender from Johnston, Iowa, Dean holds a 3.98 GPA as a mathematics and physics double major. He has been named to the American Rivers Conference Academic Team three times, and is one of six men's soccer players around the league to be named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Recently, Dean collected the first all-conference honor of his career after playing in all 16 games and logging 1282 minutes on the pitch. He was a leader of Simpson's back line all season long and helped the Storm to a second-place finish in conference standings thanks to a 5-2-1 mark in league action.
