Simpson wrestlers notch win at Gator Duals

LONGWOOD, Fla. - The Simpson wrestlers earned their second dual win of the season Sunday at the 2010 Gator Duals, going 1-3 on the day.

Thg Storm (2-7) closed the event with a 24-21 win over Concordia (Wis.). Simpson lost earlier in the day to Johnson & Wales (44-9), Lakeland (34-9) and Elmhurst (41-9).

Senior 157-pounder Calvin Barber picked up the most wins for the Storm, going 3-1. Barber earned a 6-1 win against Ethan Farrell of Johnson & Wales in the first match and defeated Elmhurst's Tom Jung, 6-2. He won by forfeit against Concordia and suffered his only loss in a 5-3 decision against Isaac Roberson of Lakeland.

Senior 149-pounder Caleb Brus earned a pair of wins, as did freshman 197-pounder Jared Bevins. Brus picked up a 5-3 decision against Lakeland's Jacob Bugajski and handled Concordia's Jordan Sernevolos with a 13-0 major decision. Bevins pinned Lakeland's Zach Wetzel in 1 minute, 10 seconds and beat Concordia heavyweight, Aaron Lamar, 13-5.

The Simpson wrestler's won't compete again until 2011, when they open the new year at the Quality Hotel Open in Hastings, Neb. on Jan. 8.
