Streicher cards second-straight A-R-C weekly honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson College women's golfer Madeline Streicher has been named the American Rivers Conference Golfer of the Week for the second-straight week, the league announced Monday.

The freshman is the first Storm women's golfer to earn two weekly honors in the same season since Jennifer Gaffney in 2012.

Streicher is coming off a medalist performance in the Iowa Wesleyan Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 28 after firing a season-low 76. She ended four strokes ahead of the runner-up to help the squad end third.

Through seven events this fall, the Edgewood, Iowa native has finished in the top three on four occasions and has only ended lower than sixth place once, which was a 10th-place showing in the Prairie Wolves Fall Invitational on Sept. 25-26.

Simpson returns to competition this Saturday, Oct. 9 for the A-R-C Championships. The three-day event will take place at Ames Country Club.
