Storm sail past Neb. Wesleyan in defiant fashion

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College women's basketball team came away with a defiant 105-54 victory over the Nebraska Wesleyan, collecting its third conference win of the season.

Molly Lutmer and Haley Rasmussen each scored 19 points and went 5-for-7 behind the arc, becoming the eighth and ninth players in school history to surpass 150 career triples. Doryn Paup (14), Taylor Hansen (12) and Lili Duckmann (10) all finished in double-digits as well.

The Storm (7-7, 3-2 A-R-C) took control early in the game, scoring 60 points in the first half while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and behind the line. Simpson got off to a slow start in the second half but put together a strong push at the end, surpassing the century mark for the second time this season with a layup by Hansen with just over a minute remaining.

  • Simpson shot over 50% from all three shooting categories, including a 57.1 3-point percentage, its best from behind the line this year.
  • The Storm also recorded 50 rebounds, eight more than their previous season record of 42.
  • Simpson outscored Nebraska Wesleyan (1-12, 0-4 A-R-C) 46-16 in the paint and 59-12 in bench points.

  • Haley Rasmussen needs just 26 more points to reach 1,000 in her career at Simpson.
  • Molly Lutmer (155) and Rasmussen (151) rank eighth and ninth all-time in career 3-pointers, both surpassing 150 makes in tonight's victory.
  • Simpson improves to 4-1 inside Cowles Fieldhouse this season.
  • This was Simpson's second time eclipsing the 100-point mark in a contest this year. The last time the Storm recorded two games with 100+ points was during the 2021-22 season.
