Storm climb to seventh in D3hoops.com poll
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson College women's basketball team climbed three spots from last week's poll to sit seventh in the latest D3hoops.com Top-15 rankings.
The Storm (9-0) are one of four teams without a loss inside the top 15 and are one of two American Rivers Conference programs represented in the top 10. Simpson made the jump after earning an 81-80 double overtime win over No. 4 Wartburg last Monday.
Across the nation, the offense is currently fourth in made 3-pointers per game (10.9), sixth in scoring (84.2), eighth in assists per game (19.0), ninth in free throw percentage (80.8%) and 10th in 3-point percentage (39.2%).
The Storm begin the A-R-C Tournament tonight as the No. 1 seed and will have home court advantage in each contest they play in. Luther visits town for the quarterfinals that begins at 7 p.m. inside Cowles Fieldhouse.
The D3hoops.com poll is voted on by a panel of 15 coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. Points are awarded on a 15-14-13-etc. basis. Because of the changing nature of the pandemic, the number of voters and teams voted for may change from week to week.
