Thompson named A-R-C Runner of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson's Trey Thompson has been named the American Rivers Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 9, the league office announced Monday.

A senior from Ogden, Iowa, Thompson led the Storm with a second-place finish at Grinnell's Les Duke Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8. He crossed the finish line in 26:11 in the first 8k race of the season, 41 seconds behind the winner from Indian Hills CC. He led the Storm to a third-place finish in the team standings with 88 points.

The runner of the week honor is the first of Thompson's career and first for a Simpson runner since Ian McKenzie won on Sept. 24, 2017.

The Storm cross country teams return to action Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Dan Huston Invitational in Waverly.
