Simpson splits four in Minnesota, looks ahead to Spring Break

OWATONNA/ST. PETER, Minn. – Led by stellar singles play from a pair of first-years, the Simpson men's tennis team earned its first two wins of the season over the weekend, going 2-2.

Simpson lost to Northwestern (Minn.) 5-4 on Friday night in Owatonna before beating Ripon 5-4 on Saturday morning. The day ended with a 6-3 loss to Bethany Lutheran, but the Storm finished the weekend on a high note with an 8-1 win over Minnesota-Morris on Sunday morning in St. Peter.

Freshmen Connor Barnard and Adam Weiser led the Storm (2-5), as each went 4-0 in singles play. Barnard contested all of his matches at the No. 2 spot while Weiser went 3-0 at No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 6.

Peter Reitgraf went 2-2 at No. 1, Jeff Armstrong went 2-2 at No. 3 and Geoff Converse went 2-2 at No. 4. Aaron Smith went 1-3, splitting time at No. 5 and No. 6.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Armstrong and Barnard went 2-2 while Converse and Reitgraf went 2-2 at the No. 2 spot. Smith and Weiser went 1-3 at No. 3.

Simpson athletes visit Lasik Iowa and Lasik Omaha doctors for annual checkups.
