IIAC Golf Championships pushed back one day
CEDAR RAPIDS - Due to impeding inclement weather, the 2011 Iowa Conference Men's Golf Championship will be played Saturday-Sunday, April 16-17. The tournament was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
The first two rounds of the of the four-round tournament will be held at Lake Creek Country Club, near Storm Lake Iowa. The final 36 holes will be played Friday-Saturday, April 29-30 at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa. Both of this weekend's rounds begin at 9 a.m. Buena Vista University is the host of the 2011 Men's Golf Championship.
The Storm enter the weekend as the No. 6 seed, as based on the average of its four-best 18-hole team scores this spring.
Simpson is fresh off its lowest round of the spring, a 307 at the Buena Vista Invitational April 8-9. Matt Spaulding leads the team with a 78.4 18-hole average, followed by James Montgomery (81.1) Connor Juilfs (81.5), Grant Northway (84.1), Matt Haley (87.5) and Nick Tanner (87.7).
Montogmery is Simpson's lone returning all-conference performer, placing fourth last year.
