Storm men's basketball earns ninth straight NABC academic honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the ninth consecutive season, the Simpson men's basketball team earned the National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award on Thursday.
Along with the team's academic honor, five individuals were selected to the NABC Honors Court including Austin Murrow, Ben Gilbert-Binder, Haydon Mead, Marcus Haupert, and Matt Schubert. Mead earned his second Honors Court honor and Murrow, Gilbert-Binder, Haupert, and Schubert were all recognized for the first time in their careers.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The NABC's academic awards are presented annually to teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball. Over 2,400 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and nearly 400 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2024-25.
