Bio

The 2010 season marks Brad Hofer’s fourth as the head men’s and women’s cross country coach at Simpson, while also serving as the distance coach on the track & field teams. Since taking over, Hofer has guided both teams into the upper echelon of the Iowa Conference, establishing themselves as regional contenders along the way. In all, Hofer’s athletes have reached the national qualifying standard 13 times in his career, including sending two athletes to the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships.

Prior to becoming the head coach, Hofer served as an assistant coach at Simpson for four years. As a Division III student-athlete, Hofer earned All-American honors on three occasions in the distance medley and 4x400m relay for Wartburg College. He was a three-time national qualifier in cross country and helped Wartburg finish 10th at the national meet during his senior year. Hofer also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 800m as a junior for the Knights. He was a captain, eight-time letterwinner, and helped set five school records during his time at Wartburg.

Hofer graduated with a B.A. in Exercise Science and a minor in Business while in his 4 years of college. He is a Certified Personal Trainer and works with Simpson’s strength and conditioning program. He and his wife Cynthia reside in Des Moines, Iowa.
