The 2017 season marks James Hoffman's fourth as an assistant track and field coach at Simpson. In his 10th year at Simpson, Hoffman coaches sprinters and also serves as an assistant football coach for the Storm.
Prior to joining the Storm track and field program, Hoffman spent the previous 10 years as an assistant track and field coach at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. There, he coached sprints, relays and high jump for the boys' program. He helped Roosevelt win conference championships in 11 of the last 12 seasons and a district championship in 2005.
Hoffman graduated from Simpson in 2005 with a degree in sports administration. He was a three-year letterwinner on the football team as a defensive back.
James resides in Des Moines with his wife, Kasey (a former Simpson softball player), and daughters Kameryn and Kourtney.
