Storm win five titles at Central dual

PELLA, Iowa — Audrey LoVan and Jaycie Owens each took home a pair of first place finishes to lead the Simpson women's track and field team in a dual at Central on Friday, the final tune-up before next week's Iowa Conference Championships.

LoVan won the 60-meter dash and the pole vault while Owens won the 200 and helped the 4x400-relay to a title as the Storm fell to the Dutch 55.5-51.5. 

LoVan ran the 60 in a season-best 8.42 seconds and cleared 2.75 meters in the pole vault, another season-best. Owens ran the best time of her career in the 200, crossing the finish in 28.77 seconds, ahead of LoVan who placed second in a season-best time of 28.84. 

Owens teamed up with Keeghan Corcoran, Jessica Lamb and Jessica Gronke to win the 4x400 relay in 4:26.29.

Alex Niemier gave Simpson its other first-place effort, winning the shot put with a heave of 11.61 meters. 

The Storm travel to Dubuque for the IIAC Indoor Championships on Friday, Feb. 24 to Saturday, Feb. 25. The University of Dubuque serves as host.
