Women’s track and field opens indoor season at Central

PELLA, Iowa — The Simpson women's track and field team sent a handful of athletes to compete in the season-opening Central Dutch Holiday Preview on Saturday, getting an early start to the indoor season.

Audrey LoVan and Alex Niemeyer turned in the top performances for the Storm. LoVan tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing 2.65 meters. Niemeyer came in fifth in the shot put with a heave of 11.26 meters. She also took 17th in the weight throw.

Elizabeth Burgus was the top performer on the track, competing in the 60- and 300-meter dash. She placed 13th in the 60 (8.23) and 16th in the 300 (44.05.

Simpson is off until the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational on Friday, Jan. 20.
