CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Simpson's Brenna Yeutsy earned Iowa Conference Female Athlete of the Week and Women's Swimming Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 13, the league office announced earlier this week.
A freshman from Urbandale, Iowa, Yeutsy had a banner day in the Storm's 111-68 win over Tabor on Friday, winning three events and breaking her own school record in the 500 freestyle. Yeutsy swam the 500 free in 5:34.73, two seconds faster than her original record-setting effort just a week earlier.
Yeutsy also won the 50 freestyle in 26.49 and swam the first leg of Simpson's winning 400 freestyle relay. Her time in the 50 free is the seventh-quickest in school history and the 400 free relay time is among the top 10. She is Simpson's second performer of the week this season, joining classmate Maren Hoferitza-Palermo (10/16).
The Storm are 4-2 in dual competition this season and travel to Loras and Beloit for duals this weekend.
