INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Larry Shoop will continue his role as head coach of the Simpson women's golf team this fall, Director of Athletics Bob Nutgrass announced.
"He has done a superb job in the past with our men's and women's golf teams and we are excited that he will be coaching with us again this year," Nutgrass stated. "After years of experience with our women's team and his solid coaching strategy and insights, we look forward to the upcoming season with Larry at the helm."
Shoop has been the women's head coach since 2014 and guided the Storm to a fourth-place finish at the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in 2017, tying the squad's best result since 2013.
Before taking over for the women, Shoop handled the head coaching duties for the Simpson men from 2002-08. While in that role, the Storm racked up three third-place results at the IIAC Men's Championships and produced six all-conference performers during that span.
This past season, Hannah Gordon paced Simpson with American Rivers All-Conference honors after a sixth-place mark at the A-R-C Championships, Shoop's first honoree with the women's team and program's first since 2013.
