Simpson places second at Wartburg Invitational

WAVERLY, Iowa (April 18, 2010) - Katie Vaux (Union, Iowa/BCLUW) led the Simpson women's golf team with a seventh-place finish at the Wartburg Spring Invitational as the Storm carded a two-round score of 692 at Centennial Oaks Golf Course last weekend.

Vaux shot a team-best 167 (84, 83) as while Simpson took on a field consisting of almost entirely Iowa Conferecne competition. Host Wartburg won the event (643), followed by Simpson, Luther (712), Wartburg Orange (724), Buena Vista (742) and St. Mary's (903).

Megan Smith (Eagle Grove, Iowa/Eagle Grove) finished two spots behind Vaux in ninth (88, 85). Taylor Hillery (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) placed 11th with a 175 (87, 88), Chelsy Manny (Peru, Iowa/Winterset) took 13th with a 177 (91, 86) and Kayla Miller (Odebolt, Iowa/Odebolt) tied for 15th with a 181 (93, 88).

Simpson will take a week off before finishing the spring season at the Luther Invitational in Decorah on April 30.
