Women's golf takes seventh at Wartburg
The Simpson women's golf team finished the Wartburg Fall Invitational in seventh after shaving 18 strokes in the second round. Megan Smith (Sr., Eagle Grove, Iowa) and Katie Vaux (Sr., Union, Iowa) each shot a 165 to lead the Storm, as the seniors made up half of a four-way tie for 18th.
Simpson finished nine strokes behind sixth-place St. Thomas and nine strokes ahead of eighth-place St. Ambrose.
Taylor Hillery (So., Dubuque, Iowa) finished seven strokes behind Smtih and Vaux, shooting 86 both days of the tournament for a 172 total. Chelsy Manny (Jr., Winterset, Iowa) tied Smith for the best round by a Simpson golfer on Sunday, shooting an 81 to finish in a tie for 40th with a 174. Kayla Miller (Jr., Odebolt, Iowa) rounded out the effort, improving 11 strokes in the second round.
