Simpson places fourth at Central Spring Invite
PELLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's golf team placed fourth of five teams at the Central College Spring Invitational that ended Saturday at Bos Landel Golf Club.
Megan Smith led the Storm and tied for ninth overall with a 173 in the two-round event, carding the third-best round of the day with an 81 on Saturday. As a team, Simpson shot a 759, 23 strokes behind Central in third.
Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the tournament with a 656, beating out Wisconsin-Eau Claire Gold which shot a 685. Central White rounded out the field in fifth.
Taylor Hillery shot a 194 (99, 95) to tie for 15th, Kayla Miller shot a 201 (108, 93) to place 20th, Chelsy Manny shot a 217 (117, 100) to place 22nd, Jamie Sorensen shot a 222 (114, 108) to place 24th and Jenny Stumpf shot a 226 (112, 114) to place 26th. Katie Vaux withdrew from competition after the first round.
Simpson's next meet comes April 17-18 at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly.
