Storm fall to Coe on Senior Day

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Aleena Hobbs scored 24 points as Coe beat the Simpson women's basketball team 87-59 in Saturday's regular season finale at Cowles Fieldhouse.

Jenna Taylor scored 11 points and Maddie Simmons added nine for the Storm (13-12, 7-9), who will have the No. 6 seed in next week's Iowa Conference Tournament.

Simpson doesn't have to wait long to get another shot at Coe, as the Storm will travel to Cedar Rapids to face the No. 3 seeded Kohawks (14-11, 11-5) in the first round Tuesday, Feb. 20. 

Coe scored the first five points of the game and never looked back, opening up a 27-11 lead after the first quarter. The lead ballooned to 22 points midway through the second.

Simpson came out swinging early in the second half with a 14-5 run. Taylor and Janey Botkins made 3s as Simpson pulled within 51-39 with 4:49 left in the third.

Rylee Claussen ended the rally with a jumper and Coe built the lead back to 19. The Storm couldn't put together another run.

Noreen Morrow had eight points and four rebounds for the Storm.
