CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Simpson's Noreen Morrow earned Iowa Conference Female Athlete and co-Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 26, the league office announced Monday.
Morrow averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 54.3 percent from the field in three games last week, helping the Storm go 2-1. The weekly honor is the first of her career and first by a Simpson player since the 2013-14 season.
The 6-2 senior post began the week with back-to-back double-doubles, going for 16 points and 13 rebounds in the Storm's 75-67 comeback win over Grand View on Tuesday, Nov. 21. She followed with 14 points and 11 boards in a big 82-52 win over Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 24, the first day of the Simpson Thanksgiving Classic. She closed the week with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting in a 66-63 loss to unbeaten Saint Benedict.
A Lake Park, Iowa native, Morrow leads the Storm with 12 points and eight rebounds per game. Simpson is 3-2 on the season and hosts Buena Vista on Wednesday night to open Iowa Conference play.
