  • Softball earns team academic honor, seven players recognized

    The Simpson softball team made the grade in the 2016-17 season, earning the title of All-Academic Team from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Additionally, seven individuals took home All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.

    Former student-athletes Janelle Claiborne Duffy '05 (women's golf), Tiffany Everding Goodchild '07 (volleyball), Lisa Simpson Klein '91 (women's track & field) and Jason Ripke '07 (football, men's track & field) and coaches Joe Blake '71 (assistant baseball coach) and Henry Christowski (head softball coach) will be inducted into the school's athletic hall of fame.

    Ashley Allen homered twice and the Simpson softball team carried a tie game into the sixth-inning against No. 4 Luther in game two before falling 7-4. Simpson led the Iowa Conference champions through three innings in the opener before falling 11-3 in six innings.
  • Trio of Rasmusson, Stolte, Allen lead sweep of Dubuque

    Madison Rasmusson had five hits in game one, Annie Stolte and Ashley Allen drove in five runs apiece on the day and the Simpson softball team had its best offensive day of the season in sweeping Dubuque 11-3 and 8-5 on Saturday.
  • Storm split with Loras, end home schedule with win

    Madi Bennett drove in the eventual game-winning run in the third inning, Madison Rasmusson pitched a gem in the circle and the Simpson softball team beat Loras 3-1 in game two of Tuesday night’s doubleheader. Loras won the opener 6-1.
  • Storm denied win on walk-off grand slam

    The Storm were one out away from their first win of the conference season when Marissa Schmidt hit a walk-off grand slam to give Buena Vista a 7-5 win in game two. The Beavers won the opener 9-3.

    Madi Bennett had a pair of doubles but the Simpson softball team couldn’t get past a hard-hitting Northwestern team Thursday, losing 8-0 in five innings in game one and 5-2 in the nightcap.

    The Simpson softball team had some uncharacteristic struggles in the field and couldn’t get the bats going in a doubleheader loss to Wartburg on Wednesday, losing game one 7-1 before dropping the nightcap 8-0 in six innings.

    Saturday's softball doubleheader between Simpson and visiting Saint Benedict was cancelled due to unsafe playing conditions. After a lengthy delay, game officials made the decision to cancel the games for the sake of player safety. The games will not be re-scheduled.

    The Simpson softball team couldn’t get the bats going on Friday at the Rebel Spring Games, scoring a combined three runs off eight hits in narrow losses to Gustavus Adolphus and Bridgewater (V.A.). Simpson lost to Gustavus 3-2 in the first game of the day, then dropped a 3-1 decision to Bridgewater.
