BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Simpson hurdler Dylan Kalinay has a chance to capture a national title in the 60-meter hurdles.

The senior from Toledo, Iowa posted the No. 5 qualifying time in the event Friday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships from Birmingham CrossPlex. He finished in 8.18 seconds to earn a lane in the final, which will be contested Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the event on NCAA.com.

Kalinay also competed in the 60-meter dash, missing the cut after placing 13th in 6.98 seconds.

Kalinay narrowly missed the cut in the 60-meter hurdles in 2017. He is looking to become Simpson's first All-American in the event since Mike Godbout placed fifth in 1991.
