Storm beat Buena Vista, finish fifth in IIAC

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Simpson men's tennis team beat Buena Vista 5-3 in the Iowa Conference Tournament on Saturday to finish fifth in the league.

The sixth-seeded Storm (8-13) won four singles matches to avenge a regular season loss to the fifth-seeded Beavers.

Alex Hook, Peter Reitgraf, Dylan Hogan and Geoff Converse all won singles matches to clinch the win for Simpson, which was playing in its first conference tournament since 2007.

Hook handled Kyle Shade 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, Reitgraf beat Justin Buzzard 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3, Hogan came back to beat Kyle Weeden 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 and Converse pulled out a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5.

Simpson dropped 2 of 3 doubles matches, but got a clutch win at No. 2. Hook and Hogan beat Weeden and Drake Swanson 9-8 (7-4) in a crucial win at No. 2 doubles.
