LINCOLN, Neb. — Freshman Noah Nelson set three school records and won two events in his collegiate debut but the Simpson men's swimming and diving team couldn't get past Nebraska Wesleyan in the season-opener on Saturday, losing 165-76.

Nelson set school records in the 1,000 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM. James McKee added a win in the 200 butterfly to give the Storm three wins on the day.

Nelson won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:16.73, crushing the previous record of 11:08.64 set by James Tillison in 2012-13. He won the 200 breaststroke in 2:09.00, beating the old record of 2:15.11 set by two-time conference champion Kyle McKim in 2014-15. He capped off the day with a record in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:02.22 to break another McKim record of 2:06.80 set in 2013-14.

Nelson teamed up with Noah Bruns, Nick Keller and Ryan Gaumer to place second in the 200 freestyle relay.
