INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Conor Riordan has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 First Team for men's basketball, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Riordan is one of five players to receive the honor in District 8 from 21 states and Canada.
The junior displays a 3.96 grade-point average while majoring in mathematics at Simpson. During the season, Riordan averaged 18.2 points. 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest for the Storm.
The Ankeny, Iowa native closed in on 1,000 career points during the 2018-19 campaign and is 11 points shy of reaching the special feat.
Riordan is joined by Jenna Taylor of the women's basketball team to earn CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District recognition. The duo increases Simpson's total number of CoSIDA All-District awards to nine for the 2018-19 year.
To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status and be enrolled for a full year at their current institution and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Department and voted on by CoSIDA members from around the nation.
