Boston named IIAC Player of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson men's basketball player Chad Boston earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 22 the conference office announced Monday.
Boston, a senior guard from Des Moines, Iowa, averaged 19 points and nine rebounds as the Storm went 3-0 last week, extending their winning streak to four games.
He scored 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds in an 89-71 victory over Central Jan. 16, then followed it up with 17 points and nine boards against Loras on Jan. 18 before capping the week with a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double in a 75-71 win over Wartburg on Jan. 21. He shot 52.5 percent (21-of-40) from the field and 93.8 percent (15-of-16) from the charity stripe during the week.
As of games through the weekend, Boston ranks fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game. As a team, Simpson's 76.1 points per game are tops in the conference.
The award is the first of Boston's career and the third for a Simpson player this season. Zack Barragan took home the honor last week and for the period ending Nov. 20.
Boston and the Storm look to extend their winning streak Wednesday, Jan. 25 when they travel to Dubuque to take on the Spartans. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
