CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Simpson's Drew Jensen earned Iowa Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Oct. 29, the league office announced earlier this week.
A senior placekicker from Indianola, Iowa, Jensen went a perfect 7-for-7 on PAT attempts in the Storm's big 49-21 win over Buena Vista on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Buxton Stadium.
The program's career leader in made field goals, Jensen improved to 36-for-37 on PATs in 2017 with his performance Saturday. He now has 98 career PATs, the fourth-most in school history.
Jensen takes home the conference accolade for the first time in 2017 and third time in his career. He previously won the award on Sept. 11, 2016 and Oct. 25, 2015.
Jensen and the Storm (5-4, 4-3 Iowa Conference) close the season Saturday, Nov. 4 at Nebraska Wesleyan.
