#StormTop10 Moments No. 5: Jordan Beem eclipses 3,000 career rushing yards

The Simpson football program has a long history of great running backs.

Ricky Gales was the 1989 Small College Player of the Year after leading the country with 2,035 yards. Guy Leman scored a school-record 31 touchdowns in 1998 on the way to earning IIAC MVP honors. Adam Reutzel nearly reached 4,000 career rushing yards, becoming the program's all-time rushing leader.

Now Jordan Beem can be mentioned among the all-time greats.

Beem closed his career as one of just five Simpson running backs to surpass 3,000 rushing yards, racking up 3,078 for fifth all time. He hit the mark in the final game of his career, going for a career-high 227 yards on Nov. 12 against Coe. A 14-yard run in the fourth quarter put Beem over the mark and into the record books.

Beem enjoyed his best season as a junior in 2015, leading the IIAC with 1,254 yards. He averaged better than five yards per carry and ran for 100 yards in the final seven games of the season. The First Team All-IIAC back recorded the 10th, 1,000-yard season in school history.

The Altoona, Iowa native was a D3football.com All-West Region Third Team pick and a CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team honoree.
